A famous volume of World War I verse by one of the best known Canadian poets who has often been referred to as "the Canadian Kipling". The book is dedicated to his brother Lieutenant Albert Service, who was a member of the Canadian Infantry and killed in action in France in August 1916. The first issue of the first American edition was issued in green cloth with gilt and with no illustrations. This second issue of the same year includes a decorative title page, full page color plates as well as some line drawings on textual leaves, and an impressive pictorial binding. This is a Near Fine of this handsome publication.
