A wonderfully produced book profusely illustrated with the remarkable work of Edward Wilson - most from the collection of the Scott Polar Institute. Wilson served on both of Robert Falcon Scott’s Antarctic expeditions where he served as zoologist, medical officer on the Discovery and chief scientist on the Terra Nova. The book clearly demonstrates Wilson’s genius as both an artist and a scientist through his exceptionally detailed and perceptive illustrations and paintings. This book would be of special interest to ornithologists since the illustrations are the first ever sketched or painted of the majority of Antarctic birds in their natural habitats.
