George Back was a member of Sir John Franklin’s expedition from 1819 — 1822. Back’s writing captures the drama of the journey and his watercolor sketches reveal the beauty and wonder of the Arctic. This book is a very good read and demonstrates Back’s extraordinary talents as an artist.
