Profusely illustrated with full photgraphic plates, drawings and maps. No foxing, folds or tears; hinges tight and uncracked; no prior ownership markings. Volume I: [1] advertisements and list of translations, [xxxiv], 486pp., 33 plates including frontis sketch, 5 color plates , 24 photographic, 2 drawing, 1 large fold-out color map. 145 illustrations in text: 128 photographs, 14 sketches and drawings and 3 maps.

 

Volume II: (1), 1 list of translations, 554pp., 40 plates including photographic frontpiece, 2 color plates, 9 drawings and 28 photographs. 141 illustrations in text: 103 photographs, 35 sketches and drawings, 3 maps. # Maps — 2 color fold-out.

 

Volume I was written by Nordenskjold and pertains to the voyage South, the season’s work aboard ship, the establishment of Snow Hill Base, and the events at Snow Hill and the work of its party afield until its relief. Volume II was written collectively and has much focus on an abundance of scientific research achieved during this significant expedition.
